Clinical Pilates is developed by physiotherapists and bridges the gap between the original work of Joseph Pilates and the most up to date research on spinal and lumbar instability, muscle imbalance and neural tension.
It is the culmination of years of both physiotherapy and pilates training and research, and takes the 34 traditional matwork exercises and modifies them to reflect this research.
The advantage of this is that you work on muscle control rather than strength, with the exercises working muscle groups in patterns that are functional. The result is a body that works more efficiently.
This type of pilates is therefore essential for anyone suffering with chronic pain or recovering from injury as it is controlled, heavily supervised and gentle.
Our instructors are trained with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute.
We offer clinical pilates classes in the Cranleigh and Horsham area. Please speak to our receptionists for class details and spaces available.
Corrective Exercise
Corrective Exercise is the key to long term relief from pain by identifying the underlying cause of postural and mechanical problems leading to chronic pain, injury or strain.
Corrective Exercise therefore provides a long term solution to pain or injury and can reduce the need for regular and expensive treatment, by educating the body to function correctly.
A corrective exercise specialist will use various screening techniques to identify the problem areas and devise a unique program to suit your individual needs, job or sport.
Corrective Exercise programs use a variety of flexibility, functional and conditioning exercises that can be performed in the gym, at home, with a trainer or sports coach depending on your individual needs, exercise preference and time constraints.
- Correction of poor mechanics that underlie injury
- Correct posture and improve flexibility
- Firmer and flatter stomach muscles
- Better trunk stabilisation
- Improved core strength and stability
- Greater resistance to injury
- Overall body toning
- Safe injury management and rehabilitation
