Thai Massage is a unique form of body therapy that incorporates Hatha Yoga, Reflexology and Acupressure. It is one of the ancient healing arts of traditional Thai medicine, and dates back at least 2,000 years.
It is a full body massage, performed on a floor mat with the client in loose, comfortable clothes. It incorporates T’ai chi moves, rhythmic motion, palming and thumbing along energy lines, gentle stretching and the conscious use of breathing.
Gentle pressure and compression are used to stimulate internal organs, relax tense muscles and calm the nervous system. Passive stretching adjusts the skeletal structure, increases flexibility and restores movement.
The practitioner uses her hands, feet, arms and legs to guide the recipient into various yoga postures, to ‘open’ the body. This increases joint mobility and flexibility, improves circulation, strengthens the organs and systems of the body and relieves muscular and emotional tension.
The main benefits of Thai Massage are:
- Increases flexibility and range of motion, assisting alignment and postural integrity of body
- Relieves pain (back pain, arthritis, headaches etc)
- Releases stress and increases energy, by releasing points of tension in the body which block the natural flow of energy, inducing balance and harmony
- Improves circulation (blood and lymph)
- Strengthens the internal organs
- Deep relaxation, by promoting inner peace and a quiet mind
It can also help to:
- Reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, improve athletic performance and reduce incidence of injury
- Relieve emotional stress and burnout
- Relax and rejuvenate the body and mind, and encourage sounder sleep
- Increase body awareness and level of health, well-being and vitality
Thai Massage calms the mind, and its many therapeutic benefits are appropriate for almost everyone, as it is individually tailored to your own needs. Brochure (137kb) |
