Our new Respiratory Physiotherapist, Julia Newman will be joining us on the 9th August 2022.

Julia graduated as a physiotherapist in 2006. After completing her core rotations at the Royal Surrey Hospital she moved to London where her career progressed as a respiratory physiotherapist through a number of leading teaching hospitals including Kings College Hospital London, The Royal Brompton Hospital and Guys and St Thomas Hospital. Julia has also worked in the community setting treating NHS patients with respiratory conditions at home. She currently works 3 days a week in a NHS Specialist Respiratory Unit, leading a team of physiotherapists; this enables her to make sure her skills are kept up to date with current research and she is looking forward to joining the Cranfold Team part time in August.

Julia is able to offer help to those affected by breathing problems. This may be due to a lung condition such as COPD and bronchiectasis or caused by a neuromuscular condition such as motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy or spinal cord injury.  She can assist you with exercise, rehabilitation and airway clearance techniques. Julia has extensive experience in post surgery, intensive care rehabilitation and mechanical ventilation. She is also able to assist your recovery from Long Covid and address problems related to breathing pattern disorders.

In her spare time, Julia enjoys spending time with her family, running and doing HIIT workouts.
