What are they?
PhysioFit is a new type of exercise and learning class, designed by Cranfold and led by experienced Chartered Physiotherapists. It is tailored to your specific needs. Each class is especially designed to support different types of condition – so whether you have a knee replacement, or suffer with back pain – we have a class to help you.
The class will be part learning-part doing. Your physio will discuss issues raised by the group, teach you more about your condition and give tips on how to manage it optimally. You will also have the opportunity to share your knowledge and experiences with others who have had similar problems.
You will get stronger and more flexible through the exercise programme, being guided by your experienced physio. As everyone is different, you will be able to go at your own pace and be sure that you are moving safely and optimally to get the most benefit.
How are they different to other exercise classes?
The classes are a mixture of exercise and learning. Before joining, you will be given a medical questionnaire and may have a chat with your Chartered Physio prior to starting your first class. This allows them to establish your individual concerns, medical history, and aims. Your physio will then use this knowledge and their expertise to individualise the exercises in the class to suit your own needs. This ensures that the exercises you will do are not only safe for your condition, but will lead to maximum benefit for you. Everyone is different. It’s like having your own physio on tap, but also being amongst others who have had similar experiences and can support each other with the knowledge that only those who have “been there” can have.
We want you to enjoy coming to Cranfold, so welcome you to stay after class for a free tea or coffee and a chat with your classmates.
Where are they?
Physio-Fit is exclusive to Cranfold Physical Therapy Centre and classes can be found in all our main practice locations – Dorking, Cranleigh and Horsham, with the majority held in our spacious purpose designed studios in Horsham and Cranleigh.

This is a stand-alone 5 week course for people with spinal pain to learn how to manage and move forward in safety and confidence. It is ideal following an episode of pain – whether it’s the first attack or a recurrent problem, or for those who feel limited by fear of a recurrence of pain. Each week you will spend half the hour learning about an aspect of Back Pain to help you better understand and manage your problem. The other half of the class is spent doing some gentle beginner’s Pilates mat exercises. Known to improve core control and reduce episodes of pain, these exercises are your first step to improved spinal health.
At the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and tools to manage and maintain your back in good condition.
Those wishing to progress their core strength further following this course should consider joining one of Cranfold’s Clinical Pilates classes.

The epidemic of the Western world is dodgy hips! This class is for those with arthritic hips, hip replacements, bursitis, hip impingements, or just plain painful hips that have no name!
The session starts with your physio explaining about an aspect of hip problems eg, what is arthritis? or what actually happens when you have a hip replacement.
We then exercise in a circuit. This means everyone does one exercise at each station and moves around to complete the whole circuit of all stations. You work at your own pace, and the exercises can be tailored to different levels of difficulty to suit all. It is non-competitive and the atmosphere is relaxed and collaborative.

Many of our physios are spinal specialists. Current research promotes the benefit of Pilates in reducing recurrences of Back and Neck pain by addressing core weakness and improving posture. Our physios are APPI* trained in Pilates, and tailor mat based exercises to your specific needs, ensuring your safety and improvement. Classes are kept to a maximum of 8 to allow for adequate supervision by the physio for each person. This one hour class involves gentle controlled exercises in standing, kneeling and lying. Small equipment such as stretch-bands and balls are used and are all provided. Progressions are introduced as you develop, to continue to challenge your core, increasing your control and strength.
